The first Hammers and Hooves Horse Fair is happeining in a big way. We had a good turn out for our Billy Crothers clinic this morning, he fielded many questions about competing and whipped out some pretty sweet shoes with the help of his striker, Jim Quick. So, that leads me to think that  everyone in attendance didn't just receive a free Billy Crothers clinic, but they also received a free how to strike and run the fire clinic from Jim Quick.

Edgewood Competitors

It is the first day of June and we have our list of competitors for the Hammers and Hooves Horse Fair in Edgewood, New Mexico. Our 32 competitors are:

Raleigh Desiato, Billy van Houten, Jim Quick, Timmy Bolduc, Iain Ritchie, Ben Yager, Scott Inmon, Peter Reynolds, Travis Koons, John McNerney, Eric Swarr, Scott Norgaard, David Harris, Daniel Jones, Jake Whitman, Chris Madrid, Seth Ireland, Hooter, David Sierra, Blake Kay, Todd Walker, Billy Reed, Jeff Allen, Tim McPhee, Dusty Franklin, Vern Powell, Dennis Hill, Jason Hill, Ryan Stoops, Billy Lewis, Dirk Lewis and Mike Stone.

That means we have two Category 1 competitors, eight Category 2 competitors, eight Category 3 competitors and fourteen Category 4 competitors.

Travis Koons, our National Champion, will continue his quest for a repeat while Jim Quick will try to widen his slim overall season lead. Local competitors Chris Madrid and Mike Stone will look to have strong showings for the home crowd while we all live on the wild side for the weekend at the Wildlife West Nature Park.

There is no doubt, all of the competitors are looking forward to a Calgary warm-up, a free Billy Crothers AWCF clinic and a super competition.

If you are sorry you didn't get signed up, you may still call Lorraine and compete in Edgewood (a late fee will be charged). Her number is (575) 868-2414.

We have several Novice Competitors signed up for the Hammers and Hooves Horse Fair, more information to come on them a little later.

Newsflash

We are so excited to be doing this competition in Edgewood, New Mexico at the Wildlife West Nature Park. Our judge and clinician is Mr. Billy Crothers, AWCF of Leighton Buzzard, England. Billy has long been a fixture in the horseshoeing industry and continues to wow folks with his work ethic and competitive spirit.  If you don't plan on competing in Edgewood you may want to consider using your member benefit of attending Billy's clinic. (Free to WCB members)

If you are going to fly into the competition you will fly into Albuquerque, New Mexico.  If you are driving, everything is just off of I-40 east of Albuquerque. The host hotel is about 45 minutes from the airport in Moriarty, New Mexico and the event will take place about 7 miles from the host hotel at Wildlife West Nature Park. The park is a 122 acre enhanced zoo that houses unreleasable animals. You can find out more about the park through this link: http://www.wildlifewest.org/

This event is the Hammers and Hooves Horse Fair. (We are the hammers part ) There will be horse related clinics going on from leaders in the New Mexico Equine industry, vendors, a pie auction and photography contest.

The host hotel is the Holiday Inn Express in Moriarty, New Mexico. They have given us a fantastic rate of $69.95 + tax. The phone number is (505) 832-5000. You need to call this number to get our rate and your registration must be complete on or before May 18, 2009. Be sure to mention that you are with the WCB.

Our third destination of the season will be in Epping, New Hampshire with the High Note Music and Hot Air Balloon Festival. This is a beautiful and wonderful location! The McPhee family are wonderful hosts and it is a given that you will have a good time!  Our judge and clinician is Todd Walker, CJF.  Register online anytime!
 

This will be our 3rd time at Equine Affaire in West Springfield, MA and we are very excited to be asked to be there! There is always such a great crowd of folks who are curious about what we do and who we are! Our judge and clinician is Kelly Vermeer-Vella. There will be more information to come.
